David Leach has been invited as a guest lecturer at Gonzaga this week as part of the Ed & Bunny Renouard Distinguished Lecturer Series.
Speaking on Wednesday, November 16th, David will explore new product introduction in manufacturing. Launching new manufacturing technologies and products is a challenge for businesses, particularly in demanding and highly-regulated industries. Through development of thermoplastic composites and the growth of ATC Manufacturing, David has many years of experience navigating the startup challenges of establishing and scaling new technologies in the advanced composites space. ATC also regularly helps clients develop, prove, and manufacture new parts and structures at scale.
David and ATC provides expertise in “design for manufacturing” approaches emphasizing risk reduction, tooling concept development and process development to achieve robust maturity. ATC also routinely runs trade studies to determine the cost and rate optimized method for specific part types. Then lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles are applied to rapidly industrialize from concept to high rate production. ATC’s advanced engineering techniques enable expansion of cost-effective production at commercial volumes.
This presentation will focus on adoption of advanced composites in the aerospace industry as an example of the aspects to be considered.
